Our race takes place in the heart of Kawartha Highlands. Located roughly 40 minutes outside of Peterborough this is an event you won't want to miss. Hosted at Kawartha Nordic athletes are treated to an area that is rarely seen outside of the winter months. On terrain that is mostly grass on a nice wide track with hills, flats, is a course you can run for time or for completion. This is a must for everyone. Our course is cut just days prior thanks to the staff at Kawartha Nordic. We offer washrooms, hydration centers, food afterwards, and our event is fully chip timed. August 9, 2025

Located in the heart of the Laurentian Valley, northwest of Ottawa, lies the Forest Lea trails. The trail system lies on crown land, and consists of over 32km of single track trails that are tight, technical, rocky, and rooty. This is an advanced recreational trail system. Even “easy” trails contain obstacles. Challenge yourself in one of 2 distances, 10 km or 25 km. Both races start with a double track section to spread out the group, and then spend the rest of the time in the tight trails. There is also a 3 km introduction to trail running event free for kids! 2024 will mark the 31th annual occurrence of the event which saw its inaugural race take place in 1993. The race has grown steadily since its inception and once again we will offer your choice of 12K, 26K, 50K, 50 mile, and of course, our signature event, the Haliburton Forest 100 Miler. There is a certain primal beauty found along the trails at Haliburton Forest and the absolute best way to experience it is by foot as you run on the rugged trails. Heavily forested, hilly and filled with lakes and streams it represents nature at it's best. September 6, 2025

The Fat Ass as we lovingly call it began 19 years ago with 23 participants who didn't quite know what they had gotten themselves into and who fell in love with running the trails of the Batawa area. Over the years the Fat Ass has grown to be one of the biggest trail races in Ontario, and despite the size of it, we maintain the inclusive atmosphere so everyone feels welcome; fast, slow, young, old, runners and walkers.
